A Clear Picture of Your Health To Accurately Guide Your Care
- An Expert Team Equipped With Advanced Medical Imaging Technologies
-
When you don’t feel like yourself or want to find peace of mind, precision is crucial. At AdventHealth Gordon, your team will use advanced imaging and radiology techniques to detect, diagnose, and care for your condition with accuracy and speed. Our medical imaging services include:
- Bone Density Screenings (DXAs) — Measure bone loss to examine the effects of osteoporosis or assess your risk of developing fractures.
- Computed Tomography (CT) — Scans that allow us to see your soft tissues, organs, and bones. The CT scanner at our facility can provide nearly 1,000 images in just 23 seconds, and it’s open on both sides to help you relax. We also offer a low-dose CT scan for lung cancer screening.
- Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization — Also called a coronary angiogram, this uses a small catheter to look at your heart and coronary arteries. To put your safety first, our facility uses the lowest dose of radiation exposure possible, while maintaining superior image quality.
- Echocardiography — Tests that are a kind of ultrasound procedure used to produce pictures of your heart with sound waves.
- Fluoroscopy — Procedures that are like real-time X-rays, showing us a moving image of your body’s organs.
- Holter Monitoring — Tracks your heart rhythm through the use of a small, wearable device.
- Interventional Radiology (IR) — Uses various imaging technologies to provide care without the need for surgery, and can be done on an outpatient basis.
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) — Scans that use radio waves and strong magnetic fields to show detailed images of your bones, organs, soft tissues, and other bodily structures.
- Nuclear Medicine — Uses tiny amounts of radioactive material called radiotracers to help us diagnose, evaluate, and care for a variety of diseases like cancer and heart disease.
- PET-CT — Scans that combine nuclear medicine imaging with CT, and are very helpful in the early detection and accurate monitoring of cancer.
- Ultrasound — Imaging that can help us see the movements of your organs and blood flow in real time, without using radiation.
- X-Rays — Provide two-dimensional images of your body for an accurate diagnosis. We use modern Siemens Artis Zee® technology to create a clearer picture at a low dose of X-ray exposure.
Your comfort and safety comes first, which is why you’ll find Tempur-Pedic® mattress tops on all beds and a private room to wait in before your test at our interventional radiology recovery area. You can trust us to provide everything you need for a smoother visit to the medical imaging center at our Calhoun-based hospital.
- Empowering and Supporting You in Our Breast Imaging Center
-
In the face of your specific health concerns, you need female-focused medical imaging care. We’re proud to say our hospital has been recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology — which means all of our equipment is up to the highest standards and our staff is well-qualified. In fact, we're the only hospital in Northwest Georgia to have received this recognition since 2007. Beyond making you feel confident in our accreditation, we want to make sure you feel comfortable. That’s why your dedicated Nurse Navigator will be by your side to help ease your mind, coordinate your screening, and provide you with helpful guidance and resources. Our women-focused medical imaging techniques include:
- Bone Density Screenings
- Breast Ultrasounds
- Digital Mammograms
- High-Definition Breast Magnetic Resource Imaging Scans (MRIs)
- Stereotactic Breast Biopsies
- Ultrasounds
Digital mammography procedures provide precision imaging of the breasts, helping us detect and examine changes to catch breast cancer at its earliest stages. At our hospital, you’ll find an advanced GE Healthcare Senographe Essential Digital Mammography system, which produces clear digital images within 10 seconds of your screening. It also uses a computer-aided detection system to be sure of your diagnosis. An annual preventive screening is recommended if you’re over 40, and your care team might also recommend a mammogram if you experience symptoms like a lump on your breast.
Stereotactic breast biopsies use mammography technology and a needle to take a precise sample of your breast tissues for testing. To help us provide a more-accurate diagnosis, your radiologist may recommend this procedure if your mammogram shows possible signs of breast cancer. The results are often benign (noncancerous), but you want to be sure, and so do we.
- What to Expect From Your Imaging Center Visit
-
Coming in for a scan or test can sometimes make you nervous. We’re here to help calm your mind and make your visit as easy and relaxing as possible. Before your test, we’ll discuss your medical history, ask about any allergies, and even ask whether or not you have claustrophobia — all so we can minimize your stress and provide you with the smoothest experience possible.
Your test will probably take around 30 minutes to an hour. Before beginning your exam, we may ask you to remove any metal jewelry and electronic devices, and to change into a gown or scrubs. If you’re receiving a nuclear medicine test, you’ll need to drink a special liquid called a radiotracer, which will give us a clearer look inside your body.
Your team will talk you through each step, providing information and guidance and making you as comfortable as possible throughout. If you’re receiving an MRI, we’ll provide you with ear protection, as the scanner can be quite loud. You can rest easy knowing all of our imaging tests are either non-invasive or minimally invasive. That means you probably won’t need any downtime afterward.
Once your test is complete, your medical imaging team will carefully assess their findings and try to deliver your results as quickly as possible, because we know you’re eager to move forward with your care. To learn more about what to expect for an individual test, visit us or talk to your doctor.
