Specialized OB Emergency Services

A health emergency during pregnancy requires a special level of care. That’s why we have the only Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED) in Northwest Georgia equipped to treat expectant moms and their babies. The OBED is an extension of our main emergency room and is staffed 24/7 with experienced OB hospitalists who are specialists in obstetric medicine.

The OBED treats pregnancy- and postpartum-related concerns like abdominal pain, preterm labor, preeclampsia, abnormal vaginal bleeding, ruptured membranes, labor checks, bladder infections, decreased fetal movement and increased blood pressure. It offers pregnant women immediate access to a physician at all hours. We hope you and your baby never need emergency care — but find peace of mind knowing we’re ready around the clock.

Childbirth Education and Breastfeeding Classes

These free classes are for patients who are delivering at AdventHealth Gordon, as classes are tailored for deliveries at The Baby Place. During childbirth education classes, parents will learn what to expect before, during and after birth to build their confidence. Knowing what to expect can make a substantial difference in one’s birthing experience. Breastfeeding classes are taught by AdventHealth Gordon lactation counselors. Every time a mother breastfeeds her baby, she helps their immune system develop and their brain grow. Classes are an excellent opportunity to be with other moms, make new friends and learn about the various stages of breastfeeding.

These classes are offered at no cost at AdventHealth Gordon in The Baby Place Lounge/Classroom from 6 to 7 pm. To register, please call 706-879-4737.
