About this Event

In January, the state outlined the need for 26 acute care beds for the service area of Buncombe, Graham, Madison and Yancey Counties in its annual State Medical Facilities Plan (SMFP). On June 17, AdventHealth delivered its application for the 26 acute care beds Certificate of Need to provide more resources for people looking for more choices in health care. There is a 30-day public comment window beginning July 1 and ending July 31, 2024. That is when the public may share their input regarding AdventHealth’s application and any other applications for these 26 acute care beds. Learn more here.

Following the written public comment period there will be a public hearing before the Certificate of Need Project Analyst. During the public hearing, the Project Analyst will hear statements from AdventHealth and the other applicants. After that, there will be a time for public comments. This is an opportunity in addition to submitting a letter of support in July. You will be able to share your comments directly with the Project Analyst. All members of the public who wish to speak should arrive about 30 minutes before the hearing to sign up for the public comment section. Members of the public will have up to five minutes to speak.
