Putting You First Every Step of the Way
- Getting Diabetes Under Control Early
-
In 2021, the CDC reported an estimated 38.4 million individuals having diabetes (11.6% of the population), including 8.7 million individuals who were unaware and not yet diagnosed. As of 2021, 97.6 million Americans were living with prediabetes (38% of the population). If you’re among them, let’s work together to overcome diabetes. We’ll start by providing you with the information and education you need to make healthier lifestyle choices that will decrease your risk and improve your quality of life.
To find out if you’re at risk for developing diabetes, we test your blood glucose levels. Screening tests we perform include:
- A1C — A common blood test for diagnosing Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
- Casual Plasma Glucose Test — Random screening for blood sugar levels
- Fasting Plasma Glucose Test — Requires you to fast from food or drink for eight hours
- Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) — We’ll give you glucose and test your levels afterward
If your test indicates diabetes or prediabetes, the diabetes care specialists at AdventHealth will work alongside your primary care physician to develop a comprehensive plan of care that’s made just for you.
- A Diabetes Management Plan That Works for You
-
Your condition. Your goals. Your needs. In every way, our whole-person approach to diabetes care revolves around you. From developing personalized lifestyle modifications that are easy for you to follow to providing leading-edge medical devices to make insulin dosing hassle-free and accurate, you can trust that your experience with our team will be thoughtful, comprehensive, and effective.
You’ll be empowered to manage your Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes through excellent education and training. From helping you understand the condition itself, to assisting with meal planning and suggesting easy ways to incorporate more exercise into your day, you can have peace of mind knowing the knowledge you need is always available to you.
And since your loved ones can also be a powerful force in helping you manage your diabetes long-term, we encourage them to take an active role in your journey, too. You're not alone.
- Bringing Breakthrough Diabetes Treatments to You First
-
You deserve the best diabetes care possible. And we're committed to giving it to you. That’s why our hospitals work closely with the scientists, researchers, and physicians at AdventHealth’s Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes. They’re constantly developing the most-effective diabetes treatments and diagnostic techniques, and sharing their findings with us. You can feel good knowing we’re in a position to bring the latest breakthroughs in treatments for diabetes directly to you.
- Expert Diabetic Wound Care
-
High glucose levels over a long period of time can lead to nerve damage (neuropathy) and poor blood circulation. These conditions are common diabetes complications that make it hard for your skin to repair itself and cause wounds to heal slowly, or not at all.
At AdventHealth, we’ve dedicated ourselves to providing the care you need when your body’s natural healing powers need a little extra help. We offer specialized acute and chronic wound treatments, diabetes wound care and treatments for wound infections. With a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and clinicians — all members of a vast network of wound care experts located throughout Florida — you can feel confident knowing you are receiving treatment for your wound from experienced specialists.
