What to Expect When You Visit the ER
We know you have a lot of questions, and we’ll do our best to answer every single one of them. Tell us your concerns. Ask us anything. We’ll also have a few questions for you, because the more information we have about you, the more quickly and safely we can help you. We’ll start with basic information like your name, birth date, medical history, and the reason for your visit. After taking your vital signs, our team will decide how they can bring you relief in the fastest and safest way possible.
In our New Smyrna Beach ER, we use a process known as triage, which prioritizes care for patients in critical condition. That means a patient suffering from a stroke may receive care sooner than someone with less urgent needs. To make sure you’re prepared for an emergency, you may want to keep an information card in your purse or wallet. Include things like the name and number of your primary care physician, a list of your medications and drug allergies, and any advance directives you may have (like power of attorney or health care proxy). Knowing this information will help us better serve you.
