NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., March 15, 2019 – AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach has launched a new Golf Fitness program to help educate golfers on the body’s anatomy and how to safely improve a golf swing.

“There is an efficient way for every player to swing and it is based on what the player can physically do,” said Philip Tremblay, AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach physical therapist. “The most efficient swing is not the same for every golfer, because efficiency is unique to their body. A golfer must be screened and assessed to achieve an efficient swing.”

Tremblay leads the new Golf Fitness program at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach.

He is golf performance enhancement certified by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), the world's leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.

The TPI Certification program is an evidence-based educational program that allows Tremblay to complete golf-specific injury assessments and rehabilitation techniques to get players back in the game.

“Through the TPI program, I can examine how these injuries developed and develop a treatment plan to improve performance on the golf course by addressing the specific physical limitations unique to each patient,” Tremblay said. “I am also able to identify any physical restrictions that may be limiting a player’s swing and use simple techniques to improve these limitations. Once the TPI golf screen is completed, I can create a unique plan for that golfer.”

Tremblay earned his doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Massachusetts. He is a board-certified geriatric clinical specialist and orthopedic clinical specialist and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and National Strength and Conditioning Association. Tremblay is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Central Florida in the physical therapy department.

“When it comes to sports, most people don’t immediately think about physical therapy because they are already typically fit,” concluded Tremblay. “However, this new Golf Fitness program allow physical therapists to analyze movements that causes dysfunction and joint issues and help someone before it could be too late.”
