- Guidelines for Visitors

- Please respect all patients' privacy by not looking into the rooms of others. Go directly to your loved one's room.
- Because of the risk of latex allergies, please bring only Mylar balloons.
- AdventHealth Ocala is a tobacco free campus. No smoking is permitted.
- Remember to take care of yourself while a loved one is in the hospital. Take breaks, eat well and rest.
- Please do not wear strong perfumes when visiting.
Please designate a family spokesperson to call the hospital and check on the condition of a loved one and keep others informed. Please note: Information will not be given over the telephone to any person unable to provide a patient's PIN number.
- Visiting the ICU

If you are granted access through one of the exceptions listed above, you can enter the ICU through secured doors via the ICU lounge on the third floor. Please check in at the lounge reception desk for admittance to the unit and follow the below guidelines:
- Please do not visit if you are or have recently been ill.
- Please turn your cell phone off before entering the ICU. Cell phones can interfere with monitoring and documentation equipment.
- In consideration of your loved one, please refrain from having food or drink at the bedside.
- Live flowers are not permitted in the ICU, for the health of our patients.
- You may be asked to leave the room to allow for procedures or care. Please return to the family waiting room and wait until we contact you.
- Overnight stays in the ICU waiting room are not permitted.
- Restrooms, computer hookups and coffee are available in the ICU lounge.
- The ICU tends to be cool, so you may want to bring a sweater or jacket. The hospital cannot provide pillows or blankets.

The ICU Visitors' lounge is located outside the David Family Intensive Care unit. It includes lounge chairs, laptop stations, telephones, restrooms and a help desk.

Visitor's Lounges
For your comfort and convenience, you'll find dedicated lounge areas on each patient care floor.
- First Floor: Emergency Department
- Second Floor: Cardiovascular ICU and Cath Lab/Open Heart
- Third Floor: Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Admissions
- Fourth Floor: Women's Center
Where to eat
Take time to stay nourished while you're at the hospital with your loved one. (Please remember that each patient's diet is prescribed by a physician, so please request food for your loved one through the nurse or other staff member.)
Dining Room
Choose from hot entrées (including vegetarian options), daily specials, a deli, fresh salad options and dessert bars and specialty foods. The dining room is located on the first floor, operates seven days a week and accepts most major debit and credit cards. Hours are:
Monday - Friday:
- 6:30 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday
- 6:30 am to 2:00 pm
PERKS Cafe
Located in the dining room, the expanded cafe offers Starbucks products, pastries, grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, and snacks. After the Dining Room is closed, they expand their offerings to include some hot meal options along with the prepackaged items. Hours are:
Monday - Friday:
- 6:30 am - 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday
- 6:30 am to 6:30 pm
Snacks
Vending machines are located on each floor of the hospital. Snacks are also available in the gift shop on the ground floor.
Staying Connected
While you're caring for your friends and family members, the last thing you want to worry about is trying to stay connected. That's why we offer the following conveniences and amenities:
- Free Internet access via computers located in the Patient Service Center
- Free WiFi throughout our hospital
- Spiritual and Pastoral Care

Your faith and spiritual strength can help you and your loved one through difficult events and decisions. Pastoral care and counseling is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whether you need a simple word of encouragement or help dealing with a spiritual crisis, our staff chaplain — working in tandem with more than 40 volunteer chaplains and lay pastoral care volunteers — are available to help.
Our spiritual support includes:
- Connections, our monthly suicide survivors support group.
- Disaster response, which offers spiritual and emotional support after hospital or community disasters by our Pastoral Care Team and/or a Community Crisis Response Team.
- End-of-life care and grief support, provided for patients, family members and staff. Or, for those without family support, we offer our No One Dies Alone (NODA) program.
- Hospital chapel, available around-the-clock for personal use and for a weekly prayer service, is located on the ground floor across from the gift shop.
- Liaison to local faith communities, which involves contacting your pastor or church leaders, and keeping an open line of communication throughout your stay.
- Ministry of presence (patient and family visits), provide supportive listening, prayer and sacramental needs (communion, anointing of the sick) at your request.
