Guiding Your Family in Diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorders
If you’re a parent wondering whether your child has an autism spectrum disorder (including Asperger syndrome), pervasive developmental disorders or developmental delays, you’ll find the support you need here.
With a referral from your child’s physician, our team can perform an autism diagnostic observation schedule, or ADOS, which can be given to kids as young as 12 months old and is available in English and Spanish. Considered the gold standard observational assessment for diagnosing autism spectrum disorders, the ADOS evaluates communication, social interaction, play/imaginative use of materials and restricted and repetitive behaviors.
After the assessment, your family can follow up with your referring physician to review the results and develop a treatment plan, which may include continued therapy services and a referral to applied behavior analysis therapy.
