The IOR is two operating suites, featuring a powerful and precise 18,000-pound 3T MRI that travels between rooms to provide real-time imaging of surgeries while they’re in progress. With this cutting-edge technology, our surgeons can identify and address any issues – such as residual tumor tissue – throughout the procedure. This leads to better outcomes, lower risk of infection and reduced chance of additional surgeries.

Technology in our IOR delivers an accurate, clear and closer-than-before real-time view of procedures and anatomy – along with the ability to share our discoveries with health care providers around the world.
Here, our surgeons have access to state-of-the-art tools and instruments including Stryker’s wireless, an infrared wireless navigation system that improves precision and visibility during less invasive procedures.
Leica Microsystem’s sophisticated mobile microscope delivers powerful images that allow surgeons to monitor vascular blood flow in the brain. And our partnership with Karl Storz brings high-definition video recording and broadcasting capabilities to allow other surgeons to watch procedures in real-time or access it from an archive of footage from virtually anywhere in the world – delivering the advances we uncover in Orlando to nearly any corner of the globe.
- Revolutionizing Every Detail

In the IOR, we’ve looked for every opportunity to revolutionize the surgical experience for our physicians and our patients – from how we obtain images throughout surgery, the tools we use and even the operating tables. Our suite features a removable MR-compatible operating table – the first-of-its-kind in the world – allowing our surgeons to use the table that best suits the surgical and imaging needs for each procedure.
This OR table can be used for MRI-guided and non-MRI guided surgeries, and it can be easily removed from the operating room for procedures that don’t require intra-operative MR imaging. For these cases, our partners at Berchtold created a custom-built table. Another first, this new table was developed for AdventHealth in collaboration with our physicians and ensures the optimum position for each patient’s procedure is never compromised – which is particularly important for those undergoing neurosurgery.
