What is a Health Navigator?

A health navigator is a specially trained registered nurse whose job is to make life easier for busy parents and their families by providing expert clinical assistance along with educational, emotional and spiritual support.

Our health navigators are directly connected with the community’s providers. Their routine meetings with physicians allow them to understand their practices more thoroughly than a patient searching for answers online.

Our Health Navigators are dedicated to guiding you and your family through your unique health care journey.

What Services Do Health Navigators Provide?

Our Health Navigators act as liaisons between families and the services available in the community. They can help facilitate details such as:

  • Answers to your health care questions
  • Assistance with scheduling annual office visits and screenings
  • Coordination of care among multiple providers and facilities
  • Finding a care provider (physician, midwife or specialist)
  • Resources and support for you and your family

How Can Health Navigators Personalize My Experience?

One of the major benefits of working with a health navigator is their ability to tailor your care experience to your needs. Our health navigators listen to your concerns and personalize your medical journey accordingly.

Based on your situation, navigators will customize their recommendations, including factors such as:

  • Availability
  • Insurance
  • Location
  • Physician preferences (experience, specialty, gender, etc.)

Why Should I Reach Out to a Health Navigator?

Life gets busy, especially as a parent. You don’t always have time to sift through all the possibilities and options when it comes to finding treatment. Even if you do, you may not immediately know which route to choose.

That’s why we’re proud to offer these services from highly skilled, caring professionals who want what’s best for you and your family.

Doreen Forsythe, RN, one of our health navigators, explains, “When it comes to your children, instead of a parent or guardian researching health resources for their child on their own, our health navigation team can help walk you through the process and next steps to help get your child the right care.”

When asked about the most rewarding part of her job, Doreen says, “It’s an honor and privilege to help support families throughout their health care journey.” Our team is proud to care for your family in body, mind and spirit — whatever your needs may be.
