AdventHealth Medical Group welcomed new physicians to three Johnson County medical practices in January.

Neurologist John Eatman, MD, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Neurology at Shawnee Mission. As a Board-certified neurologist and neuromuscular medicine specialist, he provides a broad spectrum of neurology care for adult patients. His clinical interests include neuropathy, motor neuron disease, myopathy, myasthenia gravis, nerve conduction studies and electromyography.

Family medicine physician Corrie Mallot, MD, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at South Overland Park. She is Board-certified in family medicine and is an experienced primary care physician who welcomes new patients of all ages, including newborns.

Hematologist oncologist Ali Shwaiki, MD, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Hematology Oncology at Shawnee Mission. As a Board-certified hematologist and oncologist, he treats all types of cancer and hematologic disorders, and he has extensive experience in treating all stages of breast cancer.

The three physicians join AdventHealth at a time of increasing demand for expertise and care in their respective specialties.

“With neurology, oncology and primary care always in high demand, we are very pleased to have these experienced, well-respected doctors join AdventHealth Medical Group,” said Ron Baker, vice president of physician services for AdventHealth’s Mid America region. “Dr. Eatman’s subspecialty in neuromuscular medicine will be a great benefit to our neurology patients, and Dr. Mallot’s experience providing primary care across all ages will help us continue to meet the needs of patients in and around southern Johnson County.”

“As we’re in the midst of building a brand-new Cancer Institute, Dr. Shwaiki’s breadth and depth of oncology and hematology experience is an outstanding addition to our cancer care team,” added Connie Wood, administrator for the AdventHealth Cancer Institute Shawnee Mission.

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission’s new, 71,000 sq. ft. Cancer Institute is scheduled to open in 2024. In addition to Dr. Shwaiki, Jordan Cunningham, APRN, FNP-C, also recently joined the Hematology Oncology practice. AdventHealth Medical Group has plans to further expand its oncology service offerings and provider team in the coming months.

These providers join more than 150 providers in AdventHealth Medical Group in greater Kansas City and more than 1,000 providers on the AdventHealth medical staff across the region.
