Millions of lives have been touched in one way or another by powerful storms. From Hurricane Katrina in 2005 to the record-breaking rains in Wisconsin this year, these unsettling and unpredictable events can bring fear and anxiety.

But let His Word remind you that even when the storms come you can seek shelter and comfort in His promises. Here are 10 Bible verses you can return to again and again for comfort.


Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

But the truth is that a dangerous storm can take just as great a toll on the spirit. Armed with these verses, you can help your family find comfort — even when the wind is whipping, the house is dark and you just aren’t sure what’s happening outside your home’s walls.
