Alan Verrill, MD, is president and CEO of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, a 504-bed, multi-specialty inpatient facility in Merriam, KS, with two free-standing emergency rooms at AdventHealth Prairie Star in Lenexa, KS, and AdventHealth College Boulevard in Overland Park, KS. Before being named president and CEO of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, Dr. Verrill held clinical and operational leadership positions within the AdventHealth system. Previously, he was president and CEO of AdventHealth South Overland Park, which opened as a full-service hospital in 2021. During his time there, the facility was nationally recognized as a Top Hospital by the Leapfrog Group in 2023. Before joining the team at AdventHealth South Overland Park, he was the chief medical officer for AdventHealth Littleton in Colorado for 5 years. In addition, he is a veteran of the United States Air Force and is Board certified in internal medicine with more than 25 years of clinical experience proudly caring for patients as a trusted and compassionate physician.
Alan earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Atlantic Union College. Alan and his wife Melitta have three adult children. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, hiking, fishing and reading.
