The FACT Program at AdventHealth

The Forensic Assessment Consultation and Treatment (FACT) Program at AdventHealth provides specialty care 24/7 for patients of all ages affected by sexual assault, physical assault, intimate partner violence and abuse and neglect.

Victims of violence receive a FACT consult and are offered services such as assessment of injuries, documentation and forensic photography, assistance filing a police report, community resources to stay safe and sexual assault exams.

We see patients arriving at any of the four AdventHealth emergency room locations including AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, AdventHealth South Overland Park, AdventHealth Prairie Star, formerly known as AdventHealth Lenexa, and AdventHealth College Boulevard.

About Our Team

Along with Finke, our FACT team consists of a diverse group of 18 specially trained nurses with experience in forensics and other patient care areas including the emergency room, labor and delivery, mother and baby and the intensive care unit. Our FACT nurses are highly skilled examiners who provide compassionate, non-judgmental care. They are trained to examine and treat sexual assault patients as well as handle the collection and preservation of potential evidence and provide expert testimony in court.

Our team members are always exploring opportunities to learn new skills to better serve our patients. Two team members are Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) certified, some are working on advanced degrees to become family nurse practitioners, one is an instructor for St. Luke's School of Nursing and one is pursuing a law degree.
