Merriam, KS – Laurie McCormack is the new executive director of AdventHealth Foundation Shawnee Mission, the philanthropy organization for AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.

“Laurie brings over 20 years of experience in philanthropy and development to the AdventHealth Foundation Shawnee Mission,” said Barbara Cusick, Foundation Board Chair. “We are excited to welcome her to our team and look forward to transforming the lives of our patients, donors, and community through philanthropy, as we support the rapid growth of AdventHealth in Kansas City.”

McCormack joins AdventHealth Foundation Shawnee Mission from United Way of Greater Kansas City, where she served as the Senior Vice President, Individual Giving. She was responsible for cultivating 3,300 workplace and individual donors and led efforts to construct a more than $20 million endowment campaign. Previously, she directed campaign, annual development and alumni relations efforts for Park University and University of Missouri – Kansas City.

“As we launch our new brand of AdventHealth in the Kansas City community, Laurie’s experience will be instrumental in ensuring we build upon our longstanding relationships with our donors and cultivate relationships with new audiences,” said AdventHealth Shawnee Mission President/CEO Sam Huenergardt.

In 2019, AdventHealth Foundation Shawnee Mission will celebrate the grand opening of the B.E. Smith Family Center, a more than $20 million project funded almost entirely by generous givers in the Kansas City community. The Foundation also recently raised a record $1.3 million at its 37th annual Tiny Tim Holiday Fantasy.

“AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is experiencing rapid growth, and we have many upcoming opportunities for giving that will change the landscape of health care in Kansas City,” said McCormack. “I look forward to working with this accomplished team to continue and expand the great momentum.”
