AdventHealth Shawnee Mission welcomes Sabeen Khaliq, MD, to AdventHealth Medical Group Psychiatry at Shawnee Mission and Brooke Varnum, MD, to AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at Lenexa as the health system continues to grow in the Kansas City metropolitan region.

Khaliq is a Board-certified psychiatrist who earned her medical degree from Sind Medical College and completed her residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Before joining AdventHealth, she worked as a psychiatrist in the United Kingdom, Pakistan and across the United States. In her new role, Khaliq provides psychiatric care to inpatients at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, sees patients in the Intensive Outpatient Program and provides psychiatric consultation to patients within the medical units of the hospital.

Varnum is a Board-certified family medicine physician who earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas and completed her residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health, where she served as chief resident and as a resident educator, among other leadership roles. At AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at Lenexa, Varnum provides care for patients of all ages and is now accepting new patients.

“These two physicians will help us reach more people as we continue to evolve to meet the health care needs of Kansas City, said AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Vice President of Physician Network Scott Woods. “Dr. Khaliq’s expertise will be invaluable in providing mental health care for patients who are admitted to AdventHealth for psychiatric care, and Dr. Varnum, as a native Kansas Citian who recently returned to the area, is a great addition to our primary care team serving the Lenexa community.”

Drs. Khaliq and Varnum join nearly 120 providers in AdventHealth Medical Group and 600 physicians on the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission medical staff.
