AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Partners with Church of the Resurrection for Community COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission will continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines to eligible greater Kansas City metro area residents at Church of the Resurrection (COR) in Leawood, Kansas. COR has agreed to lend space and volunteers for the clinics each week through May 2021.

AdventHealth has already vaccinated more than 3,000 community members through its first two community vaccine clinics at COR. AdventHealth is distributing vaccines on behalf of Johnson County Health & Environment, beginning with patients and community members aged 65 and older. The clinics are by appointment only.

AdventHealth encourages anyone interested in receiving the vaccine to Sign Up for Alerts at CoronavirusVaccineFacts.com. The health system will contact eligible people who have completed this form, in addition to current AdventHealth patients, to sign up for available doses of the vaccine. Additionally, AdventHealth is reaching out directly to vulnerable populations to eliminate barriers to receiving the vaccine.

“We are grateful to be a resource to the community and assist our local health officials with the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Sam Huenergardt, chief executive officer of AdventHealth Mid-America Region. “Church of the Resurrection is a wonderful partner and we appreciate the opportunity to join together in service to the community – working toward the shared goal of overcoming the virus and reinvigorating hope.”

Anyone interested in receiving the vaccine in the near future is encouraged to complete the AdventHealth COVID-19 Alerts form and the Johnson County COVID-19 vaccination interest form. Given the limited supply and extreme demand, spots will continue to fill up quickly. Eligible individuals will be contacted in accordance with the Phase and Tier in which they qualify. “We’re grateful to partner with AdventHealth to host a vaccination site,” Resurrection Senior Pastor Adam Hamilton said. “We believe vaccinations are so important and we look forward to helping as many people to receive them as possible.”
