Breastfeeding Warm Line
Get answers to your questions and concerns about breastfeeding seven days a week. Our warm line is staffed by experienced, board-certified lactation consultants who can guide you through the challenge of breastfeeding. You may benefit from a lactation consultant if you:- Are concerned about your milk supply
- Feel breastfeeding is painful
- Have damaged nipples
- Have questions about your baby’s weight gain
- Need answers to questions about pumping
- Notice baby is having problems latching

Breastfeeding Support Group
Community is an invaluable resource. Connect with other women who are going through the same stages of motherhood as you are. Our breastfeeding support group, facilitated by a lactation consultant, is the ideal place to share experiences and discuss challenges. It is free to attend and no registration is required.- Weekly Morning Group - Each Tuesday from 10 am to 12 pm

Outpatient Breastfeeding Clinic
New and expectant mothers can get one-on-one breastfeeding support from a board-certified lactation consultant. During this one-hour session, your personal consultant can help you with issues like latching difficulties, low milk production and painful breastfeeding.There is a fee for this service. After giving birth, so many physical and emotional changes can make it hard to navigate new motherhood. While it’s a joyful time, it’s also normal to experience postpartum depression, anxiety or sudden changes in mood.
We’re here to support you. You can share your experiences with other women in the community who are going through similar challenges. Led by a licensed professional, our postpartum support groups offer a safe, compassionate environment for new mothers. It is free to attend and no registration is required.

Bringing baby home means lots of changes for everyone in the household. You, your partner, your other children and even the family pet can benefit from some extra support and encouragement.
AdventHealth Shawnee Mission offers a range of parent and family education classes to help everyone adapt to the new addition. Class and event topics include:

Losing a pregnancy can be a devastating experience. Remember that you’re not alone — there’s a community here to help. AdventHealth Shawnee Mission offers support groups for women navigating the physical and emotional challenges of perinatal bereavement. Find hope, compassion and camaraderie so you can begin to heal.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support
Our Perinatal Bereavement Group for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss meets the first and third Thursday of every month from 7 to 8:30 pm, in the Community Education Room, located within the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Outpatient Entrance.For more information about individual counseling or our bereavement group, call Call913-632-4223.
Pregnancy After a Loss Support Group
A new pregnancy can be scary when you’ve experienced a loss in the past. Find support from women who have had similar experiences and learn coping strategies from a licensed professional.This group, led by an LSCSW, meets the second and fourth Sunday of every month from 4 to 5 pm, in the Medical Library conference room, located within the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Birth Center entrance.
