- Guiding You Through Your Minimally Invasive Procedure
-
You may remember back when surgery was called “going under the knife.” With the developments in surgical techniques, however, that’s not so true anymore. In fact, thanks to minimally invasive surgery procedures like endoscopy, the scalpel is no longer the primary tool we use in outpatient surgical procedures.
As an alternative, your doctor may utilize endoscopy to examine, diagnose, and treat various areas inside your body. An endoscope is a thin, flexible tube fitted with a light and camera. Our surgeons employ a number of different endoscopic procedures, including:
- Arthroscopy helps us see inside your joints.
- Bronchoscopy examines your airways and lungs.
- Colonoscopy examines your large intestine and rectum.
- Enteroscopy studies your small intestine.
- Laparoscopy explores your abdomen or pelvis.
- Sigmoidoscopy assesses the lower part of your colon.
- Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (EGD) examines your esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine, also known as the duodenum.
Your surgical team will discuss your specific procedure in length, answering your questions and explaining what will happen at every step and stage of surgery. It’s just one more way we can ease your mind, body, and spirit.
