Now, local families have greater access to expert lung and sleep care with the arrival of Dr. Alvaro Martin, who is board-certified in pulmonary medicine. He is also a critical care physician with expertise in advanced bronchoscopy and interventional pulmonology. He has joined AdventHealth Medical Group and will care for patients at AdventHealth Daytona Beach.
AdventHealth Medical Group is a team of nearly 450 employed physicians and advanced practitioners representing 30 different medical specialties. With 75 practice locations across Flagler, Lake, Sumter, and Volusia counties, AdventHealth Medical Group clinicians collectively cared for more than one million patient visits in 2024.

Martin brings years of extensive experience helping people with everything from asthma and COPD to complex lung conditions and sleep issues. He most recently cared for patients in Central Florida as the medical director of pulmonary rehabilitation at AdventHealth Altamonte Springs.
Martin specializes in both malignant and non-malignant lung conditions, with a particular focus on early lung cancer diagnosis, He is committed to improving patient outcomes by leveraging the latest advancements in medical treatments for chronic pulmonary diseases and also minimally invasive bronchoscopy techniques for the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. He collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to optimize the care of patients.
“Lung issues can affect everything – your energy, your sleep, even your peace of mind,” said Dr. Martin. “My job is to look beyond the symptoms and help people breathe easier again. I’m passionate about using the latest tools to improve outcomes and quality of life for my patients.”
Originally from El Salvador, Martin completed his internal medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York, affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College.
