Getting to the Heart of the Matter In Order to Treat It

At AdventHealth for Children, we understand that seeking help for your child’s emotional, behavioral, and learning problems can be overwhelming. Our team offers a range of services to address the needs of patients and their families. We believe in working collaboratively with families and medical teams to ensure the best possible care for your child.

The team at AdventHealth for Children includes clinical psychologists, mental health counselors, and pediatric neuropsychologists. We provide services in two areas: Clinical Psychology and Pediatric Neuropsychology

Clinical Psychology

Clinical Psychology focuses on diagnosing, treating, and improving emotional functioning and behavior. Our team works with children, adolescents, and young adults who are struggling with a wide range of mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, adjustment, or behavioral challenges. Our providers use different approaches including talk therapy, behavioral interventions, and play therapy to help patients and families manage symptoms and improve well-being.

We provide outpatient services in the psychology clinic and integrated care within select AdventHealth for Children pediatrician offices.

Pediatric Neuropsychology

Pediatric Neuropsychology focuses on how the brain affects thinking and development. Neuropsychologists use specialized tests to understand a child’s developmental level and cognitive skills, like memory, attention, and problem-solving. The evaluation can help identify underlying issues contributing to a child’s difficulties at home, in school, or with others. The results can make or confirm a diagnosis, track a patient’s recovery from illness or injury, and provide suggestions to families and medical teams for treatment.

Our neuropsychologists have experience working with children and adolescents who have a wide range of medical conditions. Some diagnoses seen in our outpatient clinic include:

Seizure disorders

Brain tumors and other cancers

Genetic conditions

Craniofacial diagnoses

Complications from prematurity

Other neurological or neurodevelopmental conditions that affect brain development
