Your Healing Journey Begins Here
When health issues keep you from the things you love, feeling better becomes a top priority. Your health is our priority, too. We know your hospital experience begins before you even arrive. That’s why we want to help you feel prepared.
From caring for your needs to helping you tend to the details, you can count on our hospital team to work together to give you the support you need. Let us ease your mind and lift your spirits as we serve you and your loved ones at AdventHealth Avista.
Our hospital has decided not to participate in the Colorado End-of-Life Options Act, but we still provide compassionate end-of-life and palliative care to patients and families.

- What to Pack for Your Hospital Stay
-
If you’re planning a stay at our hospital, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible. But when it comes to bringing personal items, we suggest you only pack the essentials and leave valuables, including jewelry and most cash, at home.
Consider packing:
- Dentures with the case and cleaning solution
- Glasses, contact lenses, solutions and cases
- Personal hygiene items you prefer, such as shampoo or toothpaste
- Phone numbers of family and friends
- Robe and pair of non-slip slippers
- Small things that bring you comfort, such as photos, books or magazines
It’s also helpful to bring certain documents with you:
- Copy of your advance directives, such as a living will or medical durable power of attorney
- Credit card or check for any co-payment your insurance may require
- Health insurance card(s) for any policy that covers you
- List your medications, with the dose and how often you take them
- Picture identification, such as a driver’s license or state ID card
- Prior test results, X-rays or medical records if your doctor requests them
- Worker’s compensation information, if applicable, including the billing address and claim number
- During Your Stay
-
While at the hospital, you’ll meet with different members of your care team. A doctor or another designated care team member will visit you at least once each day. Your nurses will also discuss your care plan with you and your loved ones throughout the day. As the patient, you’re the focus. So, we encourage you to participate in the care process.
You’ll likely see specialists from different departments, such as your doctor, primary nurse, discharge planner, pharmacist and physical therapist.
- Your Discharge From the Hospital
-
When it’s time to go home, we have case managers and social workers to help your transition go smoothly. They’ll create the safest and most appropriate discharge plan for you and be there to support you.
We're Here to Make It Easy
Whether you’re looking for billing information from a visit to our emergency room or planning an appointment with a doctor in a specialty like cancer care or spine care, we’ve made sure the tools you need are just a click away.
A hospital stay can bring visits and services from multiple medical providers. And while we know it’s hard to plan for an emergency visit, if you have a scheduled health care service that requires a hospital stay, we recommend contacting your health care practitioners within the hospital to confirm they’re part of your insurance plan. You can also get information about billing practices and an estimate for your upcoming services. This will help you avoid any unexpected fees.
