There are many benefits to volunteering at one of our Denver-area hospitals, other than the important benefit of making an impact on the health, wellness and happiness of others. Volunteering at AdventHealth is not only a chance to give back to the community but also an opportunity for personal growth and development.
Research shows that volunteering is also good for your body, mind and spirit in the following ways:
- Boosts your self-confidence
- Increases feelings of happiness and gratitude
- Fosters important social relationships and skills
- Offers opportunities to make new friends
- Reduces stress, anger and anxiety
- Helps you stay engaged with your community
- Volunteer Training
-
Our volunteers play an important role in our hospitals. This required training covers our mission, recognition, service openings, benefits, rules and regulations.
Training equips volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively contribute to the hospital's operations and provide the best possible support to patients and their families.
- Volunteer Requirements
-
Applicants must be 16 years or older.
To ensure the safety and well-being of everyone, flu vaccinations are required (medical exemptions possible). Please note that additional vaccinations may be necessary depending on where you volunteer. Additionally, applicants must complete a background check and a tuberculosis screening, which the hospital provides. This thorough screening process helps maintain a safe environment for volunteers and patients.
Commitment is key for AdventHealth volunteers. We require 100 hours of service, typically achieved through a four-hour shift once a week for six months. This consistent presence allows volunteers to build meaningful connections with patients and staff, enhancing the overall experience for everyone involved.
We do not accept applications from individuals in need of court-ordered community service hours or school credits.
During your volunteer shift, you will also be asked to always wear a photo ID and uniform.
To request more information about volunteering, fill out the inquiry form below, and a volunteer coordinator will contact you.
Shadowing Opportunities at AdventHealth
Shadowing is a valuable and unique opportunity for individuals interested in gaining firsthand experience in the health care field. Applicants must be 16 years or older and have a team member lined up to shadow. This ensures that the shadowing experience is well-coordinated and meaningful.
To maintain a safe environment, applicants are required to pay for a background check and a tuberculosis test. Additionally, they must be current on all vaccinations. These requirements help ensure the safety and well-being of the applicants and the patients they will observe.
Please fill out the Shadowing Inquiry Form and return it via email.
