Supporting Your Needs at Every Step
- Joint Replacement Surgery and Treatment
-
If you lead an active lifestyle outdoors, it can be especially tough when joint pain and soreness slow you down. Minor pain and stiffness usually get better with rest. But sometimes, damage to your knee, hip or shoulder is so severe that joint replacement surgery is the best option — and that’s where we can help.
Our orthopedic surgeons are here with resources to help you make the best decision for your health. We’ll walk through all of your treatment options, including these joint replacement services:
- Anterior hip replacement
- At-home care guidance
- Hip arthroscopy
- Joint replacement revision
- Partial and total hip replacement
- Partial and total knee replacement
- Physical therapy
- Shoulder replacement
- Spine Expertise
-
Whether you’re experiencing new back pain, have a spine injury or have been diagnosed with a spine condition, our spine care team is ready to help with a wide range of care. No matter your situation, we want you to recover quickly, and with less pain.
We treat:
- Arthritis
- Bone spurs
- Degenerative disc disease
- Ruptured disc
- Scoliosis
- Spinal fracture
- Spinal stenosis
- Spondylolisthesis
- Sports Medicine for Injury Prevention and Treatment
-
Out on the field or court, the game can get intense. And while you don’t want or expect an injury, they can happen. The good news is that we’re ready when they do.
We treat a variety of sports-related conditions, including:
- Ankle injuries and disorders
- Back injuries and disorders
- Bursitis
- Dislocations
- Elbow injuries, such as tennis elbow
- Foot injuries and disorders
- Fractures, sprains and strains
- Hip injuries, such as labral tears
- Knee injuries, such as ACL tears
- Shoulder injuries, such as rotator cuff tears
If you get injured, we’ll work with you to find the best treatment so you can get back in the game. We may recommend non-surgical treatments, such as physical therapy, rest or wearing a brace. If these treatments aren’t sufficient, surgery may be your next step.
In addition to offering orthopedic treatments, our specialists can help you find ways to avoid athletic injuries in the first place, so you can stay safe, no matter your sport.
- Education That Prepares You for Surgery
-
We know that if surgery is part of your care plan, you probably have a lot of questions. We’re here to answer them and prepare you as much as possible, so you can feel informed and confident.
When your surgeon schedules a procedure, we’ll invite you to join virtual session. You and your support person will receive educational materials and have a chance to ask questions.
Topics may include:
- Exercises for muscle strength
- Family support and amenities
- How to ensure a smooth recovery
- Preparing your body, home and mind
- What to expect at the hospital
- Your role in surgery and the recovery process
You’ll also be able to speak with your surgeon and anesthesiologist before your procedure.
- Pain Management and Follow-Up Care
-
We’re here to make sure you experience as little pain as possible during and after your orthopedics procedure. We’ll first have you meet with your anesthesiologist, who will discuss pain management options and find the one that’s best suited to you. Many patients who get joint replacement surgery receive either spinal anesthesia or general anesthesia.
After your surgery, you’ll be asked to rate your pain level. A big part of the recovery process is controlling surgical pain. We often use a mix of approaches for relieving pain, including a balance of activity and rest, elevating and icing the surgical site, massage and pain medications.
And when you’re ready to go home, we want you to feel empowered and supported. That’s why we’ll ask you to attend group therapy before you leave the hospital. You’ll also get written instructions for your at-home care and any follow-up appointments.
If you have questions once you’re at home, your case manager will be there to help guide you.
Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS®)
Our joint replacement patients benefit from ERAS® — our enhanced recovery after surgery program. It’s a patient-centered, evidence-based, multidisciplinary team approach that helps to reduce the patient’s surgical stress response, optimize their physiologic function and facilitate recovery. ERAS® care forms a pathway as the patient moves from home through the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases of surgery and back home again. - Robotic-Assisted Joint Replacements
-
At AdventHealth Castle Rock, we are proud to offer Mako robotic-assisted knee replacements.
This advanced robotic technology transforms the way joint replacement surgery is performed, enabling our surgeons to have a more predictable surgical experience with increased accuracy and better outcomes for our patients. The robotic system uses a virtual 3D model, allowing surgeons to create a unique plan for each patient before entering the operating room.
