Meet a Few of Our Our Amazing Nurses
- A Thankful Grandmother
-
This week has been very hard on my granddaughter and myself. She had a tumor removed from her spine. This hospital is one of the greatest hospitals I have ever dealt with and I'm 52 years old. It is just so hard to recommend just one nurse when they all work together. Just because you may not see your nurse, another will ask if you need help with something and they will get what you need. I have been to a lot of hospitals but this hospital, from valet up, nurses, information, security staff in the hallways, they greet you and smile and help out in any way they can. They truly are a team with no "I" in it. Thank you so much!! Your hospital is a great one and your staff are the greatest!

After having a miscarriage in 2018 and having difficulty conceiving, my husband and I were elated when we got pregnant with our son! Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with HELPP and had to deliver at 34 weeks 6 days. Working in healthcare, specializing in Infection Prevention, I was well aware of all the risks a NICU had and was very nervous about leaving my first born neonate. Brooke is an amazing night shift nurse! She took time to explain things/events to me. Being a first time mom, I desperately wanted to breastfeed my child. Since it was night shift and lactation services were not available, Brooke enlisted the help of 2 other nurses who gave me tips and strategies I still use today to successfully breastfeed. She knew we were engaged parents and patiently answered all of our questions, even taking our calls in the middle of the night once I was discharged. Brooke went above and beyond by wheeling me back to my room after a very early morning breastfeeding session. I felt at ease knowing Brooke was caring for my son in my absence. Her compassion resonates through her work and that is why I would like to nominate her!

My six-month-old daughter was hospitalized for a week after she was found unresponsive during a nap at her grandma's house. Long story short, she had seven seizures in the PICU. As new parents, we were completely overwhelmed by almost losing our baby, then watching helplessly as she seized over and over. Little did we know that God had sent us an angel. Her name is Erica. Erica explained she was extremely passionate about Epilepsy and was available to answer all if our questions. After our daughter’s cluster of seizures, Erica sat in our room and complimented how well we handled the episodes. She wrote down all medications. She was able to take my baby's level without waking her up (so impressive!) She role played seizure scenarios with us and made sure we were 100% confident before going home. On top of her incredible knowledge, she made my daughter smile and laugh every visit. We were so lucky to have Erica for three shifts. She is the angel nurse that helped our daughter heal. For that we are forever grateful.
- Jenna

Jenna always goes above and beyond for her patients. We had one very sick patient on the unit who was very likely going to miss his high school graduation, which he was very much looking forward to attending. Jenna spent all day coordinating with multiple ICU doctors, consulting doctors, nurse manager, social work, transport, respiratory, risk management, and more. She formulated a plan to safely get this patient to his graduation. In addition, she helped him practice walking around the unit with his oxygen so he'd be ready to walk the next day at his big event. The patient and his family were so happy, it is hard to put into words. Jenna also planned with Child Life to decorate his room while he was off the unit. Lastly, Jenna volunteered personally to be one of his transport nurses on her night off. None of this would have been possible without Jenna. PICU is lucky to have her, and I know she has touched the lives of her patient and his family.

Kelly - wow! She is amazing! We're beyond grateful for everything she did to help my son feel better. Above all, she is the first medical professional to say "what do you think - mom knows best!" This statement was so powerful to me as a special needs mom. Thank you for keeping him safe, helping him heal and encouraging me as a mom. I’m leaving exhausted but in the highest spirits knowing my son is getting the best care and living his best possible life! WE will always pick you! You are an amazing human, Kelly. Love, love, love you guys!
