Making the Decision
A big part of Lester's life is spending time on the lake. But when he found out he had cancer, he feared that those days were behind him.
“The first thing that went through my mind when I heard the diagnosis is that it’s probably all downhill from here,” said Lester. “I was devastated, but I knew I had to do something.”
After receiving his diagnosis, Lester discussed treatment options with Urologic Oncologist Dr. Hak Lee. “Dr. Lee didn’t try to push me into having surgery,” said Lester. “He told me, at my age, I could do nothing, get radiation treatment, or have robotic surgery.”
Back On the Lake
“After a lot of prayer and research, I made the decision to have robotic surgery,” said Lester. “And I know it was the right one.” During and after Lester’s hospital stay, he experienced compassionate and attentive care. “When I was in the hospital, I was treated like the most important person in the world,” said Lester. “I’ve been through several other surgeries, and the care I received at Gordon Hospital was above and beyond any treatment I’ve received.”
Lester was amazed at how quickly he was able to resume his everyday life. “After surgery, I was on my feet and basically pain-free,” said Lester. “I only had to take some Tylenol for my minimal discomfort. I’ve spent time healing and now feel like I did before the surgery. And I knew if I had any questions, the answer was just phone call away.” “Now I have a clean bill of health, and I’m back on the lake,” said Lester. “I have the physicians of Gordon Hospital to thank for that.”
