Our Patients' Stories
Robotic Surgery at AdventHealth Gordon
AdventHealth Gordon is Northwest Georgia’s only hospital that offers multi-specialty robotic surgery. Since the inception of our robotic surgery program, our goal has been to create the best surgical, nursing, and support team to deliver comprehensive, compassionate, and advanced patient care to all our patients.
- What is Robotic Surgery?
-
During robotic-assisted surgery, our surgeons use the da Vinci® Surgical System, which provides the surgeons with a 3-D vision that magnifies the surgical field up to 10 times and gives the surgeon a more detailed 3-D view of the operating site than the human eye can provide.
Robotically, the surgeons utilize instrumentation that mimics the movement of human hands, wrists, and fingers. This gives the surgeon more precise control than laparoscopic tools. These instruments are controlled at all times by the surgeon via a console, which is located next to the patient during surgery. The da Vinci® robotic arms remain steady, and the instruments' wrists make it easier for the surgeon to manipulate tissue and work from all angles and positions the surgeon would otherwise have difficulty accessing.
Utilizing this advanced technology, our surgeons are able to perform a growing number of complex urological, gynecological, and general surgical procedures. There are many benefits to having robotic-assisted surgery.
- What Are the Benefits of Robotic Surgery?
