Making the Decision
Linda travels the world in her sister’s memory. Her sister passed away before she had the chance to see the world. Linda then promised herself that she would do and see as many things as she could for her sister and herself, a legacy she thought was finished with her cancer diagnosis.
“When I first found out I had cancer, I thought everything was going to come to an end,” said Linda. “But the Lord and I had a long talk, and I was determined I was going to get through it.”
Urologic Oncologist Dr. Hak Lee and Robotic Clinical Coordinator Sharon Bass then spoke with Linda about her options for treatment and the benefits of robotic surgery. “When I heard how different robotic surgery is, I thought there wasn’t any reason I shouldn’t be up and ready to go [afterwards,]” said Linda.
Many Miles to Go
“Compared to other surgeries I’ve had, robotic surgery was a breeze,” said Linda. “I had a trip planned to go to Hawaii 18 days after my surgery, and I did just fine.”
After surgery, Linda was thrilled with the care she received. “Everyone treated me so well and was concerned about me, my needs, and my wants,” said Linda. “I felt special. Sharon called me every day for two weeks and then at least once a week for another month. She kept in touch with me to make sure I was recovering well.”
“Since having the surgery, I was able to go from the start,” said Linda. “If I were to have to have it again, I would do it in a heartbeat because know it won’t slow me down as far as traveling, and that’s the main thing.”
