AdventHealth Celebrates Successful First Annual Health Equity Health Fair presented by the Thompson Scholars Foundation

The first annual Health Equity Health Fair by Thompson Scholars Foundation, held on March 21 from 10am-5pm, was a resounding success. The goal of the event was to create an inclusive space that celebrates diversity and encourages interactivity among medical professionals, community resource representatives, and attendees with a focus on addressing health disparities within diverse communities in rural Appalachia in an engaging way.

AdventHealth Manchester participated in the event with a CREATION Life Table, Smoking Cessation Table, Maternal Health Table, Health Screening Table, and Behavioral Health Table. The team completed 45 health screenings for the community, providing valuable information and resources to attendees.

The AdventHealth team members who participated in the event included James Feltner, RN; Tiffany Bell, RN; Valerie Newman, RN; Aaron Napier, APRN from AdventHealth Primary Care Clinic; Ashley Zamalloa and Theresa Hall from our Behavioral Health department; Tina Carnahan, RN and Clara Smith, OB Tech from our Labor and Delivery department; Tina Couch and Crystal Day from the Marketing and Communications team; Elaina McPhetridge from our Foundation department; and Jonathon Owens, Clinic Mission Integration Specialist, and Marlon Robinson, AdventHealth Chaplain.

"We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to participate in the first annual Health Equity Health Fair by Thompson Scholars Foundation," said Crystal Day, Director of Marketing at AdventHealth Manchester. "Our team was able to provide valuable health information and resources to the community, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve in this way."

The health fair provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about various health topics and to connect with local healthcare providers. AdventHealth Manchester's participation in the event is just one example of the organization's commitment to promoting health and wellness in the community.
