AdventHealth Partners to Observe National HealthCare Decisions Day

AdventHealth and Bluegrass Care Navigators recently partnered to host an educational event on making healthcare decisions for yourself or a loved one. The event was held on Friday, April 14th, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Axis Coffee Shop & Gathering Place.

The event was free to the public and featured a panel of experts who discussed important topics such as why "the conversation" is important, important non-medical matters to consider, and what family should know. Attendees were also offered a free cup of coffee.

"Making healthcare decisions for yourself or a loved one can be a daunting and difficult task," said Ginger Smith, APRN a provider at AdventHealth. "We want to help make this process easier by providing people with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions."

Bluegrass Care Navigators specializes in providing compassionate care and guidance to those facing life-limiting illness and the families who care for them.

They have partnered with organizations and healthcare providers to create a system of coordinated care in the community and to ensure that families have access to the resources they need.

"We are thrilled to partner with AdventHealth to bring this educational event to the community," said Chas Gayheart, Associate Director of Philanthropy, Bluegrass Care Navigators. "It is our mission to provide people with the tools and resources they need to make informed healthcare decisions, and this event is just one way we are doing that."
