What to Expect When You Visit Manchester ER
We know you have a lot of questions about what’s happening. At AdventHealth Manchester, formerly Manchester Memorial Hospital, we want you to have all the facts, so we’ll answer each question thoughtfully and patiently. Tell us your concerns, and ask about anything you don’t understand. We’ll have a few questions for you, too. When we know basic information like your medical history and the reason for your visit, we can provide faster, better care. After taking your vital signs, we’ll decide on the best way to help you move forward.
In our 24-hour emergency room, we use a process known as triage to prioritize who receives care first. Emergent patients, or those suffering from a life-threatening condition, are taken immediately to the treatment area to receive care. Urgent patients, who face further injury or infection if not treated within a few hours, are brought to the treatment area in the order of their arrival, and receive first priority after emergent patients. Non-urgent patients are those with non-life-threatening conditions, which may include flu, sore throat, and fever. If you fall into this category, we'll treat you in the order of your arrival, after our emergent and urgent patients.
To reduce your stress and prepare for an emergency, you may want to consider keeping an information card with you at all times. Some helpful information includes the name and number of your primary care physician, a list of all your medications and drug allergies, and any advance directives we should know about (like power of attorney or do-not-resuscitate orders). Consider keeping this information card in your purse or wallet so it’s on hand in case of an emergency. The more we know, the better we can treat you.
- Advanced ICU Offers Around-the-Clock Monitoring
-
In the intensive care unit (ICU), 24-hour monitoring is crucial to patient care and safety. That’s why AdventHealth Manchester has partnered with Advanced ICU Care® to implement a Tele-ICU program that provides monitoring by highly trained intensivist physicians and critical care nurses 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We are one of the first hospitals in the area to implement such a program and to meet the best practice standard of having intensivist physicians monitor ICU patients around the clock.
Advanced ICU Care’s team complements the care provided by our physicians, continuously monitoring patients’ vital signs, medications, labs, and clinical status. Proactive data management tools identify issues, prompting immediate intervention. Two-way video access in each patient’s room enables face-to-face consultations between the bedside and Advanced ICU Care team during periods of evaluation or when called on by the caregiver.
