Chemotherapy, or chemo, is a cancer treatment that uses powerful drugs to destroy cancer cells.

We utilize chemotherapy to:

• Prevent the spread of cancer
• Slow cancer growth
• Relieve symptoms caused by cancer
• Cure cancer by destroying cancerous cells

Depending on the diagnosis and specific treatment plan, chemo can be administered via injection, topical creams, pills, capsules, liquids that a patient swallows or through intravenous (IV) infusion. Regardless of the delivery method, our physicians ensure that every patient is comfortable and relaxed during treatment.

As part of the AdventHealth Parker Cancer Center, we can access clinical trials that lead to investigational treatments and experiential cancer therapies.

A clinical trial, often sponsored by a pharmaceutical company, is research conducted by physicians to determine the effectiveness of a new drug or technology in a real-world setting. Investigational treatments provide patients with additional treatment options otherwise not available while contributing to cancer research.
