Raising the Bar for Your Heart Health
- Award-Winning Service
-
Our outstanding cardiovascular care and dedication to patient satisfaction have earned us accreditation from prestigious organizations like the Georgia Hospital Association, the American Heart Association and the Joint Commission Certification in Heart Failure Care, as well as Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI).
- Expertise in Heart Attack Care
-
The care you receive moments after a heart attack can impact the rest of your life. As soon as our emergency medical services (EMS) partners reach you, our emergency team prepares for your arrival at our emergency room. We keep constant communication with paramedics, who begin your care as they transport you to the hospital, where we’ll be ready to support you with life-saving techniques that can restore blood flow to your heart in half the time that other emergency rooms do.
- Whole-Person Care That’s Personal
-
We believe that to feel truly well, you have to feel whole, body, mind and spirit. Our team will work with you to understand any medical conditions or care preferences you may have to inform our care and build a treatment plan that reflects your needs.
- Using Leading-Edge Technology to Mend Hearts
-
Your heart deserves the most sophisticated tools and treatments to help strengthen it. And surgery performed through tiny incisions in your body allows us to tend to your heart with greater precision than ever before.
In a minimally invasive procedure, your surgeon will make tiny incisions in your chest that act as a boundary for thin surgical tools to enter your body. These minimally invasive procedures reduce blood loss, shorten recovery time and are less painful than traditional surgery. And because the incisions are so small, you’ll see much less scarring than incisions made in traditional open-heart procedures.
Leading the Way in Advanced Heart Care
Our team will always explore minimally invasive options first to help you heal. But if open-heart surgery is necessary, rest assured that you’ll be in the best of hands, here. Our experienced surgical team is trusted for specialized cardiovascular care, including open-heart surgery, and puts your safety first at every step.
With TAVR, valve repair for a damaged or diseased aortic valve can be done without open-heart surgery. This minimally invasive option uses a catheter to put a new heart valve into place. And because it doesn’t require open surgery, TAVR can mean fewer incisions, a shorter hospital stay and a faster recovery.
An alternative to open-heart surgery, the MitraClip™ procedure is a catheter-based therapy for select patients with mitral valve regurgitation. We’re dedicated to offering you minimally invasive heart care options like MitraClip™ so that you can heal faster and get back to the life you love.
Your peace of mind is our priority. The CardioMEMS™ Heart Failure System is a heart failure monitoring device that makes remote monitoring possible, making care easy for patients and physicians alike. Patients can track and send their daily pressure reading to our physicians from home for comfort and peace of mind.
Comprehensive Heart Care Services
-
Cardiac Catheterization
In many instances, conditions that affect blood vessels can be treated with cardiac catheterization, a procedure where your surgeon will thread a tiny hollow tube called a catheter into your blood vessel and toward your heart. Catheterization is a common practice for many heart-related procedures.
-
Coronary Balloon Angioplasty
Blood vessels that are overworked can thin out, leading to trouble with clotting, wounds and even aneurysms. In a coronary balloon angioplasty procedure, your surgeon can enter your overworked blood vessel and expand it by using a tiny balloon.
-
Echocardiogram
We use echoes to determine if your heart wall pumps properly or if it has been damaged by a heart attack or other related condition. In an echocardiogram, your specialist will glide a handheld device called a transducer across your chest. The transducer will send sound waves into your chest and then collect the echoes, which are then translated into images for analysis.
-
Electrophysiology Program
In our full-service electrophysiology program, we aim to treat and cure arrhythmia problems while providing the best experience for our patients and families. Electrophysiology tests help us determine the cause of an irregular heartbeat and whether you need further treatment. The sooner we understand why your heartbeat is abnormal, the sooner we can take steps to strengthen your cardiovascular health.
-
Holter Monitor
Studying how your heart responds to physical activity helps us determine the ways we can best care for you. In some cases, we may want to understand how your heart functions over time. We may ask you to wear a device that uses electrical currents to capture your heart activity, called a Holter monitor. This device is lightweight and is removed after a few days.
-
Pacemaker Implantation
People who have an irregular heartbeat from atrial fibrillation (AFib) may be at risk of serious issues like blood clots and a stroke. To correct this, your physician may recommend you undergo a surgical procedure to install a pacemaker near your heart that monitors its rhythms and uses electrical currents to regulate your heartbeat.
-
Stress Test
Your care team may want to study how your body responds to physical activity in a safe and controlled environment. In a stress test, your specialist will place on your chest electrical currents called electrodes. You will then be asked to walk on a treadmill, which will increase in intensity over a few minutes. The electrodes will measure your body’s response and send signals to a computer monitor that will be analyzed by your care team.
The Raybons' Story
While on a morning walk with his wife, Rome resident Otis Raybon felt a shortness of breath and had a strange feeling. With help from a neighbor, he was rushed through the ER at AdventHealth Redmond and found he had experienced a major heart attack. Otis' family was astounded at the compassionate and expert care of his heart team and all of the team members who rallied around them, cloaking them with prayer and peace.
Cardiac Recovery Takes Teamwork

Our specially trained rehabilitation team will build you a 12-week training schedule, monitor your progress, and adapt practices to reflect your needs, pace and progress.
Your Heart Care Team
- Board-Certified Cardiologists and Cardiothoracic Surgeons
-
Our physicians are among the most skilled and educated heart specialists, thanks to advanced medical training that has earned them board certification.

Our specially trained physicians are highly skilled in catheterization procedures and can precisely focus on your heart with little disruption to the rest of your body.
