Offering the Best in Women’s Health Care
From diagnostic scans for your bone health to diagnostic and screening mammograms, we're here to provide you with the most exceptional women’s health care available.
- Bone Density Tests
-
A bone densitometry (DEXA) scan checks the strength of your bones. This exam is used in place of X-rays to determine the likelihood — and contribute to the prevention — of osteoporosis, a condition that drains important minerals from bones.
- Breast Exam and Breast MRI
-
A clinical breast exam (CBE) is a same-day service that checks for abnormalities and early signs of breast cancer.
Performed by a MammaCare certified nurse practitioner at your request, a CBE is usually combined with a mammogram to evaluate the health of breast tissue.
This type of exam is highly effective for early detection of breast cancer. If needed, your nurse practitioner can request and help schedule a follow-up breast MRI.
To schedule a clinical breast exam, please call Call706-802-3575.
- Breast Ultrasound
-
After your mammogram, we may need to take a closer look your breast tissue. If so, your doctor will perform a breast ultrasound, which will allow them to study specific areas of your breast where a cyst, mass or lump may be. A radiologist will then read your ultrasound within hours, so you can receive same-day results.
- Digital Screening Mammogram
-
With a digital screening mammogram, your doctor can take a detailed picture of your breast to look for abnormal tissues. This type of exam uses computer-aided detection to increase the accuracy of your results and minimize the use of radiation.
To schedule a digital screening, please call Call706-802-3575.
- Digital Diagnostic Mammogram
-
Usually performed as a follow-up service, a digital diagnostic mammogram will take a closer look at the breast by magnifying areas that require a closer look. This is a same-day service, and results will be provided by a radiologist while you wait inside our facility.
- Lifetime Risk Assessment for Breast Cancer
-
Every patient receiving treatment at our Women’s Center can receive a Tyrer-Cuzick lifetime risk assessment for breast cancer. Through this assessment, a nurse practitioner will evaluate your likelihood of developing breast cancer in the future. During this evaluation, they may discuss additional screenings, more frequent breast exams and other tests.
- Pathology Services
-
After a breast biopsy, experienced pathologists will analyze the tissue sample. Within one to two days, results will be provided personally by a specialized Women’s Center nurse practitioner, either in person or over the phone, according to your preference.
- Stereotactic and Ultrasound-Guided Breast Biopsy
-
During these minimally invasive procedures, a doctor will take a small tissue sample from the breast to send to a lab for evaluation. We use the effective and efficient Mammotome Breast Biopsy System, which precludes the need for sutures and minimizes the chance of scarring.
