In an emergency situation, it’s natural to feel shaken. You may wonder if you need medical care or if you’ll feel better naturally. If you have sudden, intense pain or trouble breathing, or if you recognize the signs of stroke, heart attack, or a severe allergic reaction, call 911 or be driven to your nearest emergency room right away. Our AdventHealth Tampa emergency room treats many conditions, including:

What to Expect When You Visit Our Emergency Room at AdventHealth Tampa

After our medical team has treated your immediate needs, we’ll help you register. We know you’ll have a lot of questions, and we’ll answer them all as patiently and thoughtfully as we can.

It never hurts to be prepared, and you may want to consider carrying an information card in your wallet or purse in case you’re ever faced with a medical emergency. Helpful information includes the name of your primary care physician, a list of your medications and drug allergies, and any advance directives you might have (like power of attorney or health proxy).

While you should call 911 for a medical emergency, not all conditions require a trip to the closest emergency room. When you simply need care for minor ailments like hives, strains and digestive conditions, you can visit one of our urgent care facilities. Your care always comes first, which means you won’t need to schedule an appointment before visiting your closest urgent care center. Our highly experienced medical staff treat a range of minor illnesses and injuries, including:

• Allergic reactions and hives
• Cold, flu and common illnesses
• Cuts that need stitches
• Disease management
• Minor cuts (onsite stitches available)
• Rashes
• Sprains, strains and fractures
• Stomach and digestive conditions

For minor ailments, we created video visits to bring you virtual doctor appointments from home. All you need is an internet connection and an electronic device like a smartphone, tablet or computer. When you see a doctor in a video visit, they can provide advice and resources for ailments like:

• Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
• Cough, colds, bronchitis and flu
• Lower-back pain
• Seasonal allergies
• Sinus and upper-respiratory infections
• Skin conditions
• Urinary tract infections
