Our cardiac rehab program is designed to help improve your physical, mental and spiritual health after a heart attack, open-heart surgery or valve replacement.
Your rehab will begin immediately — right at your hospital bedside — with a group of caring nurses and exercise physiologists who are trained to help you get moving again.
When you’re ready to leave the hospital and return home, we’ll still be here to help you heal. You’ll be scheduled for an orientation that will introduce you to Phase II (or our outpatient program). Typically, people will participate in the program for 12 weeks. During this time, you will:
- Build strength and endurance
- Learn to manage your heart rate and blood pressure
- Learn how you'll get back to daily activities
AdventHealth Redmond, in partnership with Pritikin ICR, is taking cardiac rehab to the next level. Some patients may qualify for our Intensive Cardiac Rehab program. Our comprehensive program incorporates exercise with heart-healthy nutrition and healthy mindset education aimed at strengthening your body, mind and spirit. Each visit to ICR at AdventHealth Redmond includes safe, supervised exercise and in-depth education through immersive workshops, live cooking demonstrations, and individualized consultations.
How do I know if I am eligible for the program?
Candidates for ICR include those who have experienced:
- Chronic heart failure, if meeting select criteria
- Coronary artery bypass surgery
- Current stable angina (chest pain)
- Heart attack
- Heart or heart-lung transplant
- Heart valve repair or replacement
- Stenting or angioplasty
Your physician will diagnose your condition and decide on the best treatment plan for you.
