Welcome from the Program Director
Thank you for your interest in our Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedics have partnered with a vision to provide world-class, whole-person care for active members of our community, allowing them to maximize their health and well-being through exercise and sports participation. Our fellowship program allows us to fulfill our mission of educating clinicians who will be prepared to provide an exceptional level of clinical care to these individuals. We also strive to prepare our fellows to become leaders in sports medicine education, research, leadership, and innovation.
The program provides musculoskeletal education in a sub-specialty-based environment, which we achieve in partnership with Rothman Orthopaedics, a national leader in orthopedic care. Each fellow’s academic, research, and leadership skills are honed within the AdventHealth Innovation Tower, the program’s educational hub. We believe that sports medicine physicians are at our best when we act as leaders within multidisciplinary teams; whether serving as team physicians, providing athletic event management services, caring for patients of all activity levels within our clinics, or educating each other members of our community.
We sincerely appreciate your interest in our program, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to Orlando, and to our AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedics family!

Research
Program faculty will be involved in ongoing research projects throughout the year, directed and coordinated by Dr. Ibrahim Zeini, PhD. Faculty members and Fellows will participate in monthly sports medicine research meetings, during which we will develop ideas for new projects and update the group regarding ongoing projects. Each Fellow will be required to submit a case report for the AMSSM Annual Meeting, and to meaningfully contribute to a project planned for peer-reviewed or textbook publication.

Application Process
We proudly received our ACGME accreditation in April 2023 and our first class of fellows is anticipated to start in the 2024 appointment year. We will be accepting applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and will participate in the NRMP Match Process.
The deadline for our receipt of your completed application material is August 13th.
Our fellowship is open to applicants with Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics residency training.
