Nothing but the best here at AdventHealth! Both our Central Texas and Rollins Brook locations received top ratings from The Leapfrog Group, the nation’s premier advocate for transparency in health care. Leapfrog collects, analyzes and publishes data to help patients choose the hospital that is right for them.
Top Rural Hospital – AdventHealth Rollins Brook Granted to only 15 hospitals in the country last year, The Leapfrog Group’s “Top Rural Hospital” award assesses hospital safety, quality and efficiency based on national performance measures. To be eligible for this recognition, hospitals answer a series of survey questions, and additional data is pulled from government sources, such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. More than 2,000 hospitals complete the “Top Hospital” voluntary survey annually. “Health systems can choose whether or not to pursue this survey because it really is a pull-back-the-curtain process,” says Ashley Underwood, hospital administrator at AdventHealth Rollins Brook. “AdventHealth, as an organization, requires all of its hospitals to do this survey to verify we are at the top of our game. Patients value transparency, accountability and consistency.” This award validates our high standards for medication safety, staffing levels, infection-free surgical care and management of medical errors. All these things play a major role in the patient experience. “We treat our patients like family here,” Underwood says. “It’s a great feeling to be validated by an outside organization for the care we know we provide every day.
A Grade – AdventHealth Central Texas Similar to the “Top Hospital” award, The Leapfrog Group’s “Safety Grade” focuses on clinical quality and safety. Up to 30 measures related to keeping patients safe from harm are considered. Non-specialty, large-scale hospitals are eligible to be graded. While “Top Hospitals” are recognized annually, “Safety Grades” are updated every six months. Nearly 3,000 hospitals participate. To get an “A Grade” is no small feat. In fact, only about 25% of hospitals achieve this rating. This means that AdventHealth Central Texas ranks in the top quartile of hospitals in the country in terms of safety and quality. “COVID-19 was a difficult time for hospitals everywhere, so we are extremely proud to reclaim this ‘A Grade’ pinnacle of excellence,” says Kevin Roberts, FACHE, RN, president and CEO at AdventHealth Central Texas. This award also highlights the seamless collaboration among our physicians and nurses. Our care team is definitively aligned on a common purpose: for the good of the patient. “These Leapfrog ratings tell patients that they are guaranteed to have a positive, impactful experience,” Roberts says. “We focus on ‘wholeness’: body, mind and spirit. Patients can be assured that our hospitals take clinical safety, quality and best practices very seriously.”
