Less Invasive Surgery Options for Better Care
- Robotic-Assisted Heart Surgery
-
Until recently, Coloradoans had to travel out of state to receive robotic-assisted cardiac surgery. But you can now get the care you need close to home at our Denver hospital. As an AdventHealth patient, you’ll have access to our entire network of care, including access to robotic-assisted cardiothoracic surgery at our AdventHealth Porter location.
This surgical procedure is performed through the right-side chest through small incisions between the ribs. And compared to traditional heart surgery, patients will experience less pain, less blood loss or need for blood transfusion, fewer complications and a faster recovery.
Heart surgeries offered via a robotic-assisted approach include:
- Coronary bypass surgery (for select cases)
- Correction of atrial fibrillation (AFib)
- Intracardiac tumors
- Mitral valve repair
- Tricuspid valve repair
- Minimally Invasive General Surgery
-
Conditions that affect your digestive tract — the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and gastrointestinal (GI) tract — can impact your health and quality of life. We address these issues with a surgical intervention using laparoscopy or our da Vinci® Surgery System, operated by our surgeons.
We also offer these procedures using minimally invasive techniques:
- Cholecystectomy (gall bladder surgery)
- Gastrectomy for stomach cancer
- Heller myotomy for patients with swallowing disorders
- Hernia repair
- Nissen fundoplication for patients with acid reflux
- Pancreatectomy, both benign and cancerous
- Robotic Options for Women’s Surgical Care
-
When medication and non-invasive procedures cannot relieve gynecologic symptoms like abnormal bleeding or intense pelvic pain, gynecologic surgery remains the most effective treatment.
Our Team
Our surgeons, nurses and technologists are highly trained and understand the unique nature of women’s surgical needs. We strive to make women feel comfortable and cared for, whether inpatient or outpatient, throughout their hospital stay. Additionally, we have a separate anesthesia team that specializes in the specific needs of women and remains present with each patient through the first stage of recovery.
Our Procedures
We specialize in these surgical procedures for women:
- Excision of endometriosis
- Hysterectomy
- Myomectomy
- Sacrocolpopexy
In some procedures, our surgeons access the surgery site using a vaginal approach, forgoing the need for an external incision. However, robotic-assisted surgery may be the most effective, least invasive treatment option for complex hysterectomies and other gynecologic procedures.
Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Procedures
For most patients, robotic-assisted hysterectomy offers numerous potential benefits over traditional approaches to vaginal, laparoscopic or open abdominal hysterectomy, particularly when performing more challenging procedures like radical hysterectomy for gynecologic cancer.
Potential benefits of robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery include:
- Faster return to normal daily activities
- Fewer complications
- Less blood loss
- Less pain
- Less scarring
- Shorter hospital stays
- Urologic Robotic-Assisted Surgery
-
We perform the highest quality — and volume — of urologic robotic-assisted surgery in Colorado. Our team works to ensure you’re cared for with the compassion and expertise that has earned us recognition as a leading urological program.
Our urology surgical services include:
- Adrenalectomy to remove one or both adrenal glands
- Cystectomy to treat bladder cancer
