Sebastian G. de la Fuente, MD

Sebastian G. de la Fuente, MD graduated from the University of Salvador School of Medicine in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He completed his general surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina and a surgical oncology fellowship at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. Prior to his clinical training, he completed a research fellowship in GI diseases and surgery at Duke University. Dr. de la Fuente has written over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and 16 book chapters and continuous to be involve with research activities. He was recently awarded The Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Merit Award for his work on robotic surgery in patients with esophageal cancer. His primary areas of clinical and research interests include minimally invasive approaches in hepato-pancreato-biliary diseases including pancreatic oncology and gastrointestinal diseases. Dr. de la Fuente was named the Physician Research Coordinator and Director of Research of the general surgery residency program and AdventHealth Orlando in 2012. He also has dual appointments at the University of Central Florida and Florida State University in the capacity of Assistant Professor of Surgery.

Steve Eubanks, MD, FACS

Director of Academic Surgery/Associate Program Director

Dr. Eubanks came to AdventHealth Orlando in September of 2010 as the Director of Academic Surgery and the Medical Director of the Institute for Surgical Advancement. Dr. Eubanks is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and was trained in General Surgery at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta. He was the first Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellow at Duke University and went on to serve on the Duke faculty for 10 years. Dr. Eubanks was Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Missouri prior to coming to AdventHealth Orlando. Dr. Eubanks has served as the President of SAGES, published eight surgical books and approximately ninety peer-reviewed journal articles. His primary areas of clinical and research interest are advanced minimally invasive surgery and upper gastrointestinal diseases.

L. Thomas Chin, MD

L. Thomas Chin, MD

Preceptor – Specializing in Transplant Surgeon

Dr. L. Thomas Chin is a board certified surgeon, specializing in liver transplantation. He formerly served as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. In addition to transplantation, Dr. Chin also performs hepatobiliary surgery, laparoscopic splenectomy and hepatectomy, and general surgery in cirrhotics. Dr. Chin performs operations and sees patients post-transplant to ensure proper healing is taking place

Nicholas Clarke Feranec, MD

Dr. Feranec earned his medical degree from University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. Following his graduation from medical school, Dr. Feranec completed his residency training in Radiology at University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. He has completed a fellowship in Abdominal and Cardiac Imaging from Shands at University of Florida. He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology, and Cardiac CT boarded.

Jeffrey Chiu MD

Jeffrey C. Chiu, MD

General Surgeon

Jeffrey C. Chiu, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon with AdventHealth Medical Group in Orlando. He performs all types of general surgery procedures, with a special emphasis on minimally invasive approaches to breast, endocrine and gastrointestinal conditions. Dr. Chiu earned his medical degree at the Florida State University College of Medicine and undertook his general surgery residency at Florida Hospital (now AdventHealth) in Orlando, where he himself was born.

Collin Tully, MD

General Surgeon

Collin Tully, MD, is board eligible in general surgery. Dr. Tully received his medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine. He completed a residency in general surgery at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in Ohio where he achieved the rank of Chief Resident and gained extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques. Dr. Tully is a member of the American College of Surgeons.

Alexandros Coutsoumpos MD

Alexandros Coutsoumpos, MD

Dr. Alexandros Coutsoumpos is a general surgeon with advanced training in robotic and laparoscopic surgery. After receiving his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in general surgery, achieving the rank of Chief Resident. Dr. Coutsoumpos speaks Spanish, basic French and Haitian Creole, and he has a passion for overseas mission work in areas such as Malawi and Haiti.

Bernadette Profeta, MD, FACS

Bernadette Profeta, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon who consults with patients at AdventHealth Medical Group’s surgical specialty offices in east Orlando. Patients are frequently referred to her care due to her expertise in minimally invasive surgical procedures to address swallowing disorders; paraesophageal, inguinal and ventral hernias; and gastrointestinal and solid organ diseases. A recipient of the Chief Resident Hands of a Surgeon Award and numerous “Top Docs” honors, she is a recognized leader in her field and active member of multiple medical societies. She earned her medical degree and completed her general surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and capped her medical training with a fellowship in advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond.

Timothy S. McElveen, MD, FACS

General surgeon

Timothy Steve McElveen, MD, FACS, joined AdventHealth Medical Group from AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC, where he was a general surgeon for over 20 years and previously served as the hospital’s Chief of Staff. He is a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned his undergraduate degree in biology and was a William Douglas Memorial Scholarship recipient while earning his medical degree at the USC School of Medicine. Dr. McElveen undertook his internship training at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta and his general surgery residency at Georgia Baptist and Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia, respectively. He has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1997 and is a highly rated surgeon with outstanding patient reviews.
