Robert Bryskin, MD

Program Director, Anesthesiology Residency

Robert Bryskin, MD is a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist at AdventHealth. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University and Medical Degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology training at the New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell) and fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical College.

Dr Bryskin specializes in pediatric anesthesiology, pediatric liver transplant and pediatric cardiac anesthesia. He is the medical director of Pediatric Anesthesia and Chairs Children’s Hospital OR committee. His research interests include pediatric regional anesthesia, peri-operative pain management and monitoring in patients with congenital heart disease.

Robert Michaels, MD, MPH

Associate Program Director, Anesthesiology Residency

Robert Michaels, MD is a board-certified anesthesiologist at AdventHealth. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University and Medical Degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology training at John Hopkins University.

Dr Michaels specializes in cardiac and liver transplant anesthesia. He is the department chair of Anesthesiology, chair of sedation committee, chair of committee on patient safety and quality care. He has served a number of medical staff leadership roles including chief of staff. His academic and administrative interests are in operating room efficiency and leadership development.

Ravi Bissessar, MD, FASA

Ravi Bissessar, MD is a board-certified cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at Advent Health. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Medical Degree from the University of Florida. He completed his anesthesiology training at the University of North Carolina, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Duke University Hospital.

Dr Bissesar specializes in anesthesiology for cardiac, thoracic, vascular, electrophysiology, and transplant. He is the medical director of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and was instrumental in establishing Advent Health’s/Florida Hospital's Liver Transplantation and the Heart and Lung Transplantation Programs, along with its Ventricular Assist Device and Destination Programs. He has served on numerous committees and is the current Assistant Chief of Medical Staff and is member of AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute Executive Board. He spearheaded several initiatives with the purpose of promoting better and safer patient care. His special interests include cardiovascular services, thoracic, robotics, transplant services, Infection Control, CMS, OSHA, Medication Management and Safety, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Blood Management and Utilization, Quality Assurance and OR Efficiency strategies.

Kara Eberhardt, MD

Dr. Kara Eberhardt is a board-certified anesthesiologist at AdventHealth. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and Medical Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her anesthesiology training at John Hopkins University.

Dr Eberhardt provides anesthesia for all types of surgical cases but focuses on liver transplant, regional and obstetric anesthesia. She has a passion for process improvement initiatives, leadership development and enjoys perfecting ultrasound guided regional techniques. She is the current Chief of Anesthesiology at AdventHealth Orlando and Co-chairs the hospitals OR Committee and OR Block Committee.

Stephen Freiberg, MD

Core Faculty, Anesthesiology Residency

Stephen Freiberg, MD is a board-certified cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at Advent Health. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in medical education and Medical Degree from the University of Miami. He completed his anesthesiology training at the Johns Hopkins University, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Duke University Hospital, where he served as Chief Fellow.

Dr Freiberg specializes in anesthesiology for cardiac, thoracic, vascular, electrophysiology, and structural heart procedures. He is the medical director of Vascular Anesthesia and is member of the Clinical Quality Committee. He has particular interest in enhanced recovery in cardiac surgery, regional anesthesia for cardiothoracic surgery, major aortic surgery, and mechanical circulatory support. He is also passionate about educating both fellow physicians, anesthesia trainees, and the general public about anesthesiology, and is a contributor to The ACCRAC Podcast, KevinMD, and Scary Mommy, among others.

Christopher T Lancaster, MD

Christopher Lancaster, MD

Christopher Lancaster, MD is a board-certified pediatrician, pediatric anesthesiologist and pediatric critical care physician at AdventHealth. He received his Medical Degree from New York Medical School. He completed his pediatrics training at the University of California (San Francisco), anesthesiology training at John Hopkins University and pediatric anesthesiology and Pediatric Critical Care fellowships training at John Hopkins University.

Dr Lancaster specializes in pediatric anesthesiology, and pediatric cardiac anesthesia.

Jasmine Swaniker, MD

Dr. Jasmine Swaniker is a board-certified anesthesiologist and critical care physician at AdventHealth. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy from Duke University and Medical Degree from the University of Chicago. She completed her Anesthesiology residency and Critical Care fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis where she was Chief Resident.

Dr Swaniker provides anesthesia for all types of surgical cases but focuses on Liver transplant Anesthesia and Obstetric Anesthesia. She is the Medical Director of Obstetric Anesthesia for the AdventHealth Central Florida Division and serves on the hospital’s Peer Review Committee. Dr Swaniker was instrumental in developing protocols during Covid -19 pandemic and has a passion for process improvement initiatives and mentorship.

Adam Weinstein, MD

Adam Weinstein, MD is a board-certified adult cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at AdventHealth. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biophysics from Brown University and Medical Degree from University of Miami. He completed his anesthesiology training and Cardiothoracic Anesthesia fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital / Harvard University.

Dr Weinstein provides anesthesia for all types of surgical cases but focuses on cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgeries. He has a special interest in minimally invasive percutaneous interventional cardiac procedures where the use of 3D transesophageal echocardiography is crucial for guidance. His research interests include preoperative cardiac testing and optimization.

Tommy Wieland, MD

Tommy Wieland, MD is a board-certified anesthesiologist at AdventHealth. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from University of South Florida and Medical Degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

Dr Wieland provides anesthesia for all types of surgical cases but focuses on regional anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia and trauma. He is the Clerkship Director for Medical Students Education. His interests include simulation training for critical situations, pharmacology, and peri-operative pain management.
