Ravi Bissessar, MD is a board-certified cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at Advent Health. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Medical Degree from the University of Florida. He completed his anesthesiology training at the University of North Carolina, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Duke University Hospital.
Dr Bissesar specializes in anesthesiology for cardiac, thoracic, vascular, electrophysiology, and transplant. He is the medical director of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and was instrumental in establishing Advent Health’s/Florida Hospital's Liver Transplantation and the Heart and Lung Transplantation Programs, along with its Ventricular Assist Device and Destination Programs. He has served on numerous committees and is the current Assistant Chief of Medical Staff and is member of AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute Executive Board. He spearheaded several initiatives with the purpose of promoting better and safer patient care. His special interests include cardiovascular services, thoracic, robotics, transplant services, Infection Control, CMS, OSHA, Medication Management and Safety, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Blood Management and Utilization, Quality Assurance and OR Efficiency strategies.
