Research
Over the course of training, residents will be expected to take part in a quality improvement project and an original research project. These projects will be presented at the departmental conference at the end of the academic year as well as the AdventHealth Orlando GME Resident Research Day.
The purpose of a quality improvement project is to engage in the department’s efforts to improve patient care and identify systems issues that may contribute to patient outcomes. In addition, this project should foster interprofessional collaboration with other healthcare team members.
The original research project should be completed by the end of the 3rd year. This project will teach the basic principles of research including how research is conducted, evaluated and applied to patient care. The goal is for the research project to be submitted to a clinical meeting and/or a peer-reviewed journal.
