D. Ashley Hill, MD grew up in Oregon then moved to Florida, where he graduated from Eckerd College then attended the University of South Florida College of Medicine. After an intern year at LSU in New Orleans, Dr. Hill returned to USF to complete a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1994. He has been a part of the academic and administrative team at AdventHealth since 1994.
Dr. Hill is the Executive Medical Director for the AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG) employed women’s healthcare clinicians for the Florida region. He believes that physicians working with administrators make a powerful and effective team and this combination best serves our patients, clinicians, and organization. Dr. Hill has held many other previous leadership roles in our organization including program director for the family medicine obstetrics fellowship, division chair of the ob/gyn department, chair of the quality improvement committee, and director of the maternal transport program. He currently serves on several system-wide leadership teams. One of his favorite positions is medical director of the M.O.S.T.® obstetrics simulation team, where he enjoys interacting with members of our obstetrics team across Central Florida.
Dr. Hill is an advocate for medical education and believes that teaching high-quality care to our younger colleagues is critical to the success of our profession. He is the recipient of numerous “best teacher” awards, has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals, previously served on an ACOG patient safety committee, and is a reviewer for several medical journals. Dr. Hill holds academic appointments at the University of Central Florida (Professor), Florida State University (Associate Professor) and Loma Linda University.
Dr. Hill lives in Windermere and outside of work enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children, boating on our spectacular lakes, and making jewelry, cabinetry, and woodworking projects.
