- AdventHealth for Children
AdventHealth for Children, in partnership with the Bainum Family Foundation, Lift Orlando and Primrose Schools, is spearheading the creation of a high quality early-learning center in the communities of West Lakes. Scheduled to open in early April 2020, the West Lakes Early Learning Center will offer early childhood education and onsite comprehensive health, wellness and social services for children six weeks to five years of age and their families. Located in the West Lakes community at 2122 Long Street in Orlando, it has been designed to ignite children’s imaginations and promote a lifelong love of learning. The Center will operate from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
According to new research published by the American Educational Research Association, access to early childhood education significantly reduces students’ chances of being placed in special education or held back in school, and increases their prospects of graduating high school. Incorporating both AdventHealth’s holistic, mind-body-spirit approach to children’s development and the Primrose School’s Balanced Learning® curriculum, the new West Lakes Early Learning Center will feature:
- Onsite health screenings to ensure children are meeting their developmental milestones
- Health and wellness programs
- Social support
- Purposeful play and teacher guidance to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion
- Fresh fruit and vegetable garden with a farm-to-table approach to build healthy eating habits
- Parent interaction zones
- Advanced technology integration
- Early literacy outreach in the community
