Noor Khan was seven years old when she was referred by her neurologist last April for an MRI of her brain to help diagnose the cause of her recurring headaches.

“I was nervous. and she was really scared and crying before the MRI,” remembers her mom, Missy Salehjee.

AdventHealth for Children Certified Child Life Specialist Laura Felson took Noor through the Picture Perfect program, and Noor was able to complete her MRI the same day without anesthesia.

“It really put her at ease,” says Salehjee. “She calmed down, and so did I. They made her familiar with everything that would happen in a kid-version way which made for a smooth transition to the big machine.”

After a diagnosis of Chiari malformation, Noor required an MRI of her spine just a few months later and brought her Picture Perfect “me doll” with her to that appointment.

“She was actually excited about going for the second MRI and even looking forward to it,” shares Salhjee.
