Biography

Hunter Moore, MD, PhD, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in transplant and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery. Dr. Moore is highly skilled in the management of acute bleeding and thrombosis disorders, with decades of research experience in vena cava thrombectomy and reconstruction. He sees patients in the Denver area for conditions like cirrhosis, end-stage renal disease, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer and renal cell cancer.
Dr. Moore grew up in a family of physicians who cared for a wide range of patient populations, inspiring him to pursue a career in medicine. He was particularly drawn to helping individuals with major life-changing events, not only treating these patients but finding new ways to improve their recoveries.
Dr. Moore received his medical degree from the Robert Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and his doctorate from the University of Colorado Anschutz. He completed a general surgery residency and an abdominal transplant and HPB fellowship at The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
He’s a member of multiple professional organizations and committees, including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH), co-chair of ISTH’s Subcommittee on Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation and the Shock Society’s Scientific Program Committee.
Dr. Moore is well regarded in the transplant surgeon community, receiving multiple awards and grants like the Vanguard Prize and the Veloxis Fellowship in Transplantation Grant from the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Moore enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters. They spend a lot of time in the mountains doing outdoor activities. His hobbies include backcountry skiing, rafting, mountain biking and running.
