Bruce A. Orkin, MD, is the Program Director of the Colorectal Fellowship Program and a board-certified colorectal surgeon. After earning his medical degree at the University of Minnesota, he was a general surgery resident at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He next completed fellowships in gastrointestinal research at the Mayo Clinic and in colon and rectal surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. An acknowledged authority on colorectal surgery, Dr. Orkin has published many articles and book chapters on topics including the role of surgery in constipation and functional anorectal disorders, anorectal disease, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, construction and complications of ostomies, and minimally invasive surgery for colon and rectal cancer. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
