Biography

Dr. Patrick King is a fellowship trained, board-certified primary care sports medicine physician, specializing in nonsurgical orthopaedic and sports related care, including concussions. He focuses on nonoperative modalities, such as lifestyle modifications, rehabilitation, injections with and without ultrasound guidance, biologic treatments, and further injury prevention. Though he evaluates all orthopaedic and sports related disorders, he is particularly interested in those involving the shoulder, hip, and knee.

Dr. King has been involved in sports since childhood, achieving state and national championships as early as high school. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in health science. He then became an independent personal trainer, developing a niche clientele while also completing his post-baccalaureate studies at Seminole State College. Dr. King obtained his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, completed a residency in Family Medicine at Community Health Network, and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC).

Dr. King has served as the team physician for multiple High Schools and Colleges including University of North Carolina Asheville and Mars Hill University, Indy Eleven NPSL Soccer, and assisted with the Indy Fuel ECHL Hockey, Indy Eleven NASL Soccer, and Asheville Tourists. He has provided physician coverage for numerous events including the Lake Logan Triathlon, Shut-In Trail Race, Great Smokey Mountain Youth Grapple tournament, Hellbender One Hundred mile endurance race, multiple NCAA tournaments including the Southern Conference Tournament and Maui Invitational, as well as the International Haute Route cycling race. In addition, he has served on various NCAA and health network advisory committees, has been involved with numerous community outreach programs, and has presented at multiple local and national conferences.

Dr. King enjoys spending time with his family, trying new cuisine, traveling the great outdoors, and attending sporting events.
