Biography

Russell B. Smith, MD, FACS, is a board-certified otolaryngology surgeon who earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, graduating summa cum laude. He completed an otolaryngology residency at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics and a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology and advanced head and neck reconstruction at the University of Iowa. Dr. Smith is an adjunct professor at Florida State University College of Medicine. Dr. Smith’s clinical practice encompasses aspects of advanced head and neck surgery with a focus on thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He is also an international leader on surgeon performed point of care ultrasound (POCUS). He has received numerous research grants and is the author of more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Smith serves on multiple state and national committees, including The American College of Surgeons National Ultrasound Faculty, of which he is Vice-Chair of Education.
