Biography

Dr. Oh is one of the founders of neonatal medicine. His tireless work has shaped our current understanding of newborns and their metabolic systems. In 1995, Dr. Oh received the prestigious Virginia Apgar Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 2012, he was inducted into the Legends of Neonatology Hall of Fame. That same year he was also awarded the Maureen Andrews Mentorship Award from the Society for Pediatric Research for mentoring over 80 leading clinicians over a 40-year span.

Dr. Oh received his medical degree in the Philippines before coming to the United States for his internship and residency. He was Chief Resident in Pediatrics and Neonatology fellow at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Oh has since held a number of prestigious posts at leading academic and clinical centers, including Brown University where he was Chair of the Department of Pediatrics for 14 years and remains a tenured, full professor. Dr. Oh has a solid history of securing NIH funding for his research and has over 400 peer-reviewed publications to date.

Dr. Oh assists in the development of novel, investigator-initiated studies and mentors our physician scientists on establishing cohesive programs of research that impact the clinical care of our young patients.
